Where it started
Canal+ historically operated in silos: each regional subsidiary running its own CMS, ingestion and metadata curation, in different languages and with varying enrichment levels. That made it difficult to trace content efficiently, synchronise promotion or centralise catalogue management, while each country still had to stay flexible on content licensing to counter competitive propositions in its market.
What we did
- Align and merge regional VoD and Replay catalogues into a single, unified repository via our Harmonization & Enrichment module.
- Streamline content acquisition strategies, ingestion and promotion workflows.
- Automatic matching of incoming assets using descriptive data from Canal+ order files.
- Manual matching by a multilingual editorial team for unmatched assets.
- Content creation for genuinely new entries, ensuring full coverage and unique identification.
The results
- Unified metadata architecture across all regional operations.
- Scalable, API-driven ingestion and matching process.
- Reduced duplication and improved data quality and consistency.
- A strong foundation for international expansion and improved cost efficiency.
The adoption of Open ID marks a significant step forward in our digital transformation strategy, allowing us to harness automation and data-driven insights for better content management and monetisation.
